“the sovereign freedom of traveling comes from the fact that it whirls you around and turns you upside down, and stands everything you took for granted on its head”

The thing that primarily draws me to travel is the ability to take what I love most (skiing) and do it in a completely unfamiliar environment. In this way I am able to discover new people, culture, food and language. I find it amazing how the landscape of the Earth can change so quickly from place to place, therefore there is an infinite number of destinations with such a variety of activities at one’s fingertips. From my travels I hope to obtain an appreciation of the societal differences between my usual surroundings and the foreign country in which I find myself in order to broaden my knowledge of the world.
In this blog I will transport you to the land of colour and contrast. Located on the northwestern coast of Africa the country of Morocco has a lot to show in terms of its culture and history. As one travels inward from the rugged Atlantic coast one will discover historical cities such as Marrakesh, Fes and Meknès, before arriving at the grand Atlas Mountains. During the winter months one will be surprised to hear that these mountains make for the most unlikely snowfields given the country’s tropical climate. Us skiers travel long distances to escape the urban sprawl in favour of the slopes, therefore I wish to draw your attention to the unknown ski zones of Morocco and the culture that is found along the way.
